July 30, 2024

The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) has welcomed back Jitoko Tikolevu, this time as a Board Director.

Tikolevu who previously held the position of CEO at the FRCS from 2007 to 2015 has been appointed alongside Nitin Gandhi, for a three-year term effective from July 16 this year.

After he left in 2015, Tikolevu served as Fiji’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 2016 until last year. He also served as Deputy Board Chair of the Fiji Development Bank and Investment Fiji until December 2015.

“I am looking forward to contributing and working together with the current FRCS Board,” Tikolevu said in a statement.

Gandhi, a Chartered Accountant and former managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers joins Tikolevu on the board. Boasting a distinguished career spanning over 38 years in assurance, taxation, and advisory services across various industries, including tourism, aviation, and financial services, Gandhi is also a fellow of the Australia and New Zealand Chartered Accountants and a former president of the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants.

While accepting the appointment Gandhi noted the challenges facing FRCS in its reforms and administrative systems stating: “There is a need to embrace globalisation and digitalisation to ensure FRCS serves its customer base in the most efficient and fairest way. Modernising tax compliance and developing systems accordingly would be key to the economic development of the country.

FRCS CEO Udit Singh welcomed the new directors, highlighting the expertise and perspectives they bring to the board to enhance its strategic direction and help achieve its goals in revenue collection, border protection, and trade facilitation.
