Police constable Jotish Jaynendra Lal has been charged with two counts of bribery by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).
He allegedly solicited $500 and accepted $400 from private individuals in exchange for favours while on duty.
Lal fronted the Lautoka Magistrates Court where he was granted non-cash bail of $1,000 and ordered not to re-offend or interfere with prosecution witnesses.
A Stop Departure Order has been issued against him, and the case is adjourned to 24 June 2024 for mention to check on the second phase disclosures and accused legal representation.
