For 20-year-old Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula playing in front of the Fiji crowd with his parents in attendance on Saturday was an experience he will never forget.
Starting for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua against reigning champs Crusaders, the nippy halfback slotted in 10 of the 20 points that the home side piled.
“I really have no words to describe what it felt like to be playing in Fiji and having my parents and family over to watch the game and support me,” Ravula said.
“It’s just different to be actually here playing and seeing the crowd, they’re massive.”
Ravula who is a NZ citizen and 19-year-old Waqa Nalaga were two new signings by the Drua last year after they featured for Fiji U18 in 2023. His mother is the sister of former NZ All Black half back Richie Mo’unga who plays in Japan now.
“I’m enjoying myself, learning from the senior players and developing my game as I go.”
Fijian Drua Head Coach Mick Byrne said the youngster has a bright future ahead of him.
“That kid is something else. He has earned his place in the team, so much so that when he speaks the bigger, older lads take the time to listen.”
