Evacuation Centres Open in Vatuwaqa and Landslide In Samabula

In Vatuwaqa, Suva, two evacuation centers have been opened as a precautionary measure to accommodate families impacted by flash floods.

Marcellin Primary School and Marist Champagnat Institute are now serving as safe havens for those affected, with police officers deployed on-site to monitor the situation and provide assistance to families in need.

Residents residing in areas affected by the flash floods have been urged to reach out to the Fiji Police Force at 917 or the National Fire Authority at 910 for necessary assistance in relocating to safer grounds.

Meanwhile, in Samabula, Suva, the Fiji National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) is working with authorities to address a landslide that occurred on Kula Street. This incident, triggered by persistent heavy rain, prompted the Fiji Police Force in evacuating the affected family and their belongings.

Authorities are urging the public to take precaution.
