Renowned fashion designer and artist Robert Kennedy’s first solo exhibition currently taking place at the Grand Pacific Hotel, is a collaboration between old Fiji and the modern capture of art as seen through his eyes.
Mr Kennedy says this is the first time that he has branched out and held a solo exhibition which was a leap of faith.
He has used old photographs that his great grandfather took in the 1920’s when he first arrived in Fiji.
“In a way, this is cross-generational collaboration between my grandfather and I, keeping his work alive and to tell the story through art,” Mr Kennedy said.
“My great grandfather married my great grandmother, Hilda Wilson from Levuka and that’s how our family line came to be,” he added.
The exhibition housed at the J Hunter Pearls space at GPH has gathered a lot of interest since opening last Friday.
“There are many Christmas gift ideas there, but even if people want to have a browse I’d encourage them to come take a look.”
The exhibition will close before Christmas.
