Fiji’s Ministry of Youth has confirmed that the Raluve School Girls Rugby competition will take place this weekend at HFC Stadium, alongside the Deans competition.
This decision follows a meeting with the Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union (FSSRU) which was prompted by social media concerns regarding the players’ welfare due to the waterlogged and muddy field conditions they faced last weekend at Veiuto Grounds.
During the meeting, the FSSRU assured Minister for Sports Jese Saukuru of their full commitment to addressing the issue. They aim to ensure a smooth continuation of the competition, as confirmed in the released fixtures, scheduled at HFC Stadium, and Buckhurst Park this Saturday.
The ministry said it would maintain close oversight and work with relevant stakeholders to ensure the safe and successful execution of the Raluve Competition.
In this week’s semi-finals, Sigatoka Methodist College will play against Lelean Memorial School in the U16 grade, while Adi Cakobau will compete against Naitasiri Secondary. In the U18 grade, Naitasiri Secondary will face Dawasamu Secondary, and Jasper takes on Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School.
