Free Entry for OFC U-19 Women’s Championship 2023

The Fiji Football Association today announced free entry for all to the OFC U-19 Women’s Championship 2023 set to kick off at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva and Lautoka’s Churchill Park next week.

In a statement, Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said the decision aims to promote women’s football, empower female athletes, and create an inclusive platform for young players to showcase their talent.

“We believe that by providing free entry, we will encourage more fans to come out in full force and rally behind our national team, the Young Kulas,” Patel said. “The OFC U-19 Women’s Championship 2023 promises to be an unforgettable experience, showcasing the immense talent, dedication, and determination of young women in football. This is a golden opportunity for fans to witness the future stars of the game as they compete at the highest level.”

The OFC U-19 Women’s Championship will feature ten teams, including the national side popularly known as the Young Kulas, competing for the chance to qualify for the FIFA Women’s U20 World Championship.

The championship will take place from June 21 to July 8, with Fiji competing against New Zealand and Papua New Guinea in Group B. The Young Kulas take on New Zealand at 4pm on Thursday, June 22 the HFC Stadium in Suva in their opening match.

However, the tournament kicks off proper at Churchill Park, Lautoka at 12 pm on Wednesday, June 21 when New Caledonia take on Samoa. The match will be followed by Vanuatu taking on Tonga at 3pm. New Caledonia, Samoa, Vanuatu, and Tonga are in Group A, and Tahiti, Solomon Islands, and Cook Islands are in Group C.
