Voters who applied for postal ballots should expect to receive their packages over the next few days, as the Fijian Elections Office dispatches the final batch today.
Nine thousand nine hundred and sixteen (9,916) people applied and have been approved to vote by postal ballot comprising 869 overseas applicants.
“So, you should be receiving yours in the next few days, and then you will have time to send it back. So overseas as well we are dispatching a lot of it…and should be expecting your tracking numbers coming on your contacts,” Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said.
“Now if your addresses were not proper or if it is returned because your address was not correct or your number was not correct, then we will have to get in touch with you somehow. So please stay tuned to your emails and respond to us in time otherwise we will not be able to send you a postal ballot if your address was not correct.”
Since the disbursement of ballot papers started about two weeks ago, two have voted.
Marked ballots must be returned via courier before 6 pm on polling day.
Postal ballots will be counted at the National Count Centre.
In the 2018 election, about 51 percent of those registered for postal ballot attended.
