With less than a week from the start of pre-poll, Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem is reminding voters residing in venues designated for pre-poll that if they miss out, they will not be able to vote.
Pre-poll is scheduled for Monday 5-9 December, with stations opening at different times as per a predefined schedule, for instance at the Tubou Community Hall, voting is scheduled for 8am to 6pm on Monday, and at Nasaqalau Community Hall this will run from 9am to 12pm and at the Naroi Community Hall from 10am to 4pm.
Mr Saneem said voters in pre-poll areas can neither vote anywhere else nor on election day if they miss out on pre-poll, likewise those who will not be at their designated venue on 14 December, and had not applied for a postal vote.
“Remember, pre-poll is the only option for those in these locations,” he said.
“If you think you are flying out of country, and you can go into these venues and vote sorry your name will not be on the list. Only people who are registered to vote at that venue can vote. If you will not be available on the 14th of December and you have not applied for a postal ballot, you will simply miss out because the postal ballot was the only way you could vote if you were not able to reach your polling station on the 14th of December.”
More than 600 stations across the country will be operational during the pre-poll period with an anticipated 77,907 people expected to vote.
