The Fijian Drua are keen to step up when the Super Rugby Pacific resumes next season, starting with the Waratahs game in the Super Round of the 2023 edition scheduled for early March in Melbourne, Victoria.
Set for 4 March at AAMI Park, the match will be a repeat of the Fijian Super Rugby franchise’s first-ever Super Rugby Pacific match last season. The Tahs won that encounter 40-10 in Sydney.
Prior to the match-up, Moana Pasifika will take to the pitch against Chiefs.
In their first outing last season, the Swire Shipping-sponsored Fijian Drua side picked up two wins and made the Force, Reds, Highlanders and Chiefs work hard for their win.
Next season, the side is keen to step it up, says Fijian Drua Chief Executive Brian Thorburn.
“Our skill, firepower and flair make us one of the most exciting teams to watch, and we introduced the competition to players like Ratu Meli Derenalagi, Teti Tela, Vinaya Habosi, Kalaveti Ravouvou and many others. Last season the Drua brought the ‘Pacific’ in Super Rugby Pacific.
“This season, we will bring the ‘Super’ to the Super Round in Melbourne. We invite Fijians and rugby fans in Victoria, across Australia and of course, our home in Fiji, to join or support the team as we take on the Waratahs on 4 March 2023.”
The Super Round is a showpiece event for the competition, where all 12 teams descend on Melbourne, Victoria for an action-packed three days of exciting rugby.
Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, September 27 at 12.00pm AEST.
