Six players from the Fijian Drua squad have been selected for the 35-member Swire Shipping Fijian Warriors side to prepare for the World Rugby Pacific Challenge {WRPC} two-match series against Samoa in Suva.
Named in the squad are hooker Tevita Ikanivere, lock Sorovakatini Tuifagalele, Chris Minimbi, flanker Raikabula Momoidunu, center Apisalome Vota and half-back Simione Kuruvoli.
Head Coach Kele Leawere said: “My coaching team’s job now is to gel in these experienced players with the Under-20s, and the provincial players who have made the cut into the extended squad.”
Leawere added that they have seven players over the age of 23 which also includes three from Fijian Drua, 16 Under-20 players who recently took part in the Oceania Championship, and 11 provincial players.
“Our aim motive is to give these players the much-needed exposure and also to cap them for representing Fijian team in the future,” said Leawere.
The WRPC two-match series against Samoa will be held on 27 August and 3 September at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
