Fiji 2022 Polls: Proposed ‘Kingdom United Party’ applies for polls

Registrar of Fiji’s political parties Mohammed Saneem has received another application from a proposed party looking to contest the country’s 2022 General Elections.

The Fijian Elections Office confirmed receiving an application for registration from the proposed party in a statement today.

“In accordance with the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act, the Registrar will now process the application,” the FEO said in a statement.

To date, nine political parties are registered to contest the 2022 General Elections including the FijiFirst governing party, the two parties that make up the opposition grouping being SODELPA and National Federation Party, Fiji Labour Party, Freedom Alliance, Unity Fiji, and the three newly established parties leading up to forthcoming elections in People’s Alliance, We Unite Fiji party and New Generation party.

The 2022 General Elections is scheduled to be held anytime before 10 January 2023, most likely on a Wednesday.
