3 who robbed home on the pretext of asking for rootcrops charged

Fiji Police have charged three men accused of barging into a home in Vesida last week where they robbed a 65-year-old woman and her granddaughter of items worth more than $2,000 after asking the older woman for some root crops.

The three men, aged 18, 23, and 25, will appear before a magistrates court in Nasinu tomorrow.

According to police, the 25-year-old who resides in Caubati allegedly asked the victim for some root crops and proceeded to follow her into the compound. Upon seeing the victim open the back door, the other two men aged 18 and 23 years ran inside the house. There, they threatened the victims before fleeing with cash and assorted personal belongings worth more than $2000.

Investigators managed to recover the victim’s phones and assorted items, police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said.
